IL Y A TRENTE ANS, J'AI REÇU UNE BOURSE DU GOUVERNEMENT FRANÇAIS ET EU L'OCCASION EXCEPTIONNELLE DE POURSUIVRE MES ÉTUDES SUPÉRIEURES À L'UNIVERSITÉ DE BORDEAUX I, À TALENCE.

   Il y a trente ans, j'ai reçu une bourse du gouvernement français et j'ai eu l'opportunité exceptionnelle de poursuivre mes études supérieures à l'Université de Bordeaux I, à Talence. Ce fut une réponse divine à mes prières. Je recevais 3 700 francs par mois, et ma directrice de thèse au CNOUS de Bordeaux était Madame Brux. Elle gérait chaque fois la somme que je recevais du gouvernement français et m'a placé au Village 3, chambre 429. Je payais 450 francs par mois pour l'hébergement, 15 francs pour un excellent repas au Restaurant U. Les transports étaient très abordables, et j'en ai profité pour visiter les grands sites culturels et historiques de France. Mon directeur de thèse à l'université était le professeur Gérard Valentin. Un jour, il m'a demandé si je me sentais bien en cours. J'ai répondu que tout était décrit au tableau (poutre, poteau, béton armé, etc.). Tous mes camarades ont été surpris par ma réponse.    Thirty years ago, I received a scholarship from the French government and had the exceptional opportunity to pursue my higher education at the University of Bordeaux I, in Talence. It was a divine answer to my prayers. I received 3,700 francs per month, and my thesis supervisor at the CNOUS in Bordeaux was Madame Brux. She managed the amount I received from the French government each time and placed me in Village 3, room 429. I paid 450 francs for accommodation, 15 francs for an excellent meal at Restaurant U. Transportation was very affordable, and I took the opportunity to visit the great cultural and historical sites of France. My thesis supervisor at the university was Professor Gérard Valentin. One day, he asked me if I felt comfortable in class. I replied that everything was described on the board (beam, column, reinforced concrete, etc.). All my classmates were surprised by my answer.
