In this realm, nature itself is inverted. There is no water to quench thirst; instead, there is Hamim, a boiling fluid that scalds the throat. There is no food to satisfy hunger; instead, there is the Zaqqum tree. Its fruits are described as having shapes like the heads of demons—bitter, abrasive, and inherently restorative of the very hunger it should satisfy.
