Step 4: Vertical Integration and The "10-Minute"

Addis Ababa’s crushing traffic was cured through radical zoning. Lalibela-Nova is a city of "Vertical Neighborhoods." Every residential tower (built from locally sourced, cross-laminated timber) contains shops, schools, and medical clinics on its lower four floors. Work and leisure are within a ten-minute walk. Above ground, there are no cars. Below ground, a silent, magnetic-levitation (Maglev) loop connects the city’s distinct "districts"—from the Tech-Hub in the west to the Cultural Quarter in the east—in under five minutes.
