Step 6: The Ultimate Purpose
In Islamic theology, Jahannam is ultimately a place of purification. The overarching theme is that the soul is being purged of its "dross"—the accumulated spiritual grime of its time on Earth.
The goal of this structured, intense experience is to return the soul to a state of absolute clarity. It is the final, agonizing process of correction. Once the spirit has been cleansed of its falsehoods, it is moved beyond these gates.
