One evening, a young man sat in a park, watching a drone hover silently above the fountain. He looked up at it, his eyes weary. The drone panned toward him, its lens clicking as it adjusted its focus, scanning his vitals, his history, and perhaps even the flicker of rebellion in his heart.

He didn't run. He just smiled, a sad, knowing expression. "You've killed all the villains," he whispered to the machine. "But you've left us with nothing but the fear of being human."

The drone hovered, its sensor pulsing a calm, steady blue. It didn't fire. It simply waited.
