Phase 3: The Assembly (Step-by-Step)
The Foundation: Workers first leveled the summit and blasted away portions of the peak to create a stable base, anchoring the central steel tripod to the core of Corcovado.
The Scaffold: A massive wooden scaffolding was erected, climbing higher as the statue grew. It was a perilous environment, as the workers operated without modern safety harnesses.
The Pour: Engineers poured the reinforced concrete into the steel web, section by section. The statue was built from the feet up, with the internal steel frame providing the support needed for the weight of the massive, outstretched arms.
