• Original Burial Site: After his death in April 1868, his body was initially cremated and buried by local priests at the Medhane Alem Church within his mountain fortress of Magdala (now known as Amba Mariam).
• Current Resting Place: His family later transferred his cremated remains to the Mahbere Selassie Convent in Qwara, a location closely tied to the Emperor as it is where he attended church education in his youth.
