Alamata is a historic town in the Southern Zone of the Tigray Region, located approximately 578 km north of Addis Ababa along Ethiopian Highway 2. It is famously situated at the foot of a dramatic, zigzagging escarpment climb known as Gira Kahsu (between Alamata and Korem), which offers stunning highland views.
