"Der Sultan" (German for "The Sultan") is a highly ambiguous term, usually referring either to Deir el-Sultan, the historic Ethiopian monastery on the roof of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, or to an Islamic ruler (such as the Ottoman Sultans).
