In December 2006, Attalla Hanna, a Palestinian priest, was ordained Theodosios, Archbishop of Sabastia. He joined the ethnic Greek bishops of the Patriarchate as the first Palestinian bishop since the early 1980's.
Tensions between the Patriarch Theophilos III and his deposed predecessor, Irineos I, continued in 2006. During a February holiday celebration, the church held two processions - one by followers of Theophilos and the other by Irineos's supporters.

En décembre 2006, Attalla Hanna, prêtre palestinien, a été ordonné Théodose, archevêque de Sabastia. Il a rejoint les évêques de souche grecque du Patriarcat en tant que premier évêque palestinien depuis le début des années 1980.
Les tensions entre le patriarche Théophile III et son prédécesseur déchu, Irineos I, se sont poursuivies en 2006. Lors d'une fête en février, l'église a organisé deux processions – l'une des disciples de Théophile et l'autre des partisans d'Irineos.
